The theory does not intend to add to the knowledge of carpet design history from the early carpets until today. It is not concerned with arguing dates or provenances or the origin or precedence of the design repertoire. Instead, it tries to look at carpets and rugs from the different activities around it (designing, weaving, trading/dealing, scientifically investigating, using, collecting)
